The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has reserved judgement in the case of Tukur Mamu, ex-terrorist negotiator.
The federal government accused Mamu of aiding and abetting Boko Haram terrorism attacks against innocent Nigerians.
was on Tuesday, brought before Justice Inyang Ekwo specifically for offenses relating to violent attack on Abuja-Kaduna train in which several persons were abducted.
Mamu was also accused of collecting money in various currencies on behalf of Boko Haram terrorists from the families of the train attack and concealing the terrorism funds in his Kaduna residence thereby violating the provisions of Terrorism Prevention, Prohibition Act.
Specifically, he was said to have collected $420,000 from families of the attack and another N21M from another set of families of the train attack.
He, however, denied all the charges that were read to him.
Following that, the federal government represented by Aderonke Imana, asked for a date to commence his trial but Mohammed Ndanusa, his lawyer, moved a motion requesting bail for his client on grounds that his client is suffering ailments that required urgent surgical operation.
In response, the federal government strongly contended that all ailments claimed by Mamu can be treated by Medical Doctors with the Department of State Services hospital.
After taking arguments for and against the bail request, Justice Ekwo reserved ruling till a date that would be communicated to parties and ordered that Mamu remain in the custody of the DSS where he had been detained since last year pending the ruling on the bail application.
