Voicemail is an electronic way of sending voice messages. The message is digitally stored for later playback by the recipient.

Before the advent of instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp, telegram, signal, e.t.c, which enable users to send voice messages to each other, Service/carrier providers provide this medium for sending voice messages, which can later be attended to when the recipient decides to listen.

Depending on the business phone system that the recipient’s firm employs, the recipient can access the saved message by phone, desktop, email, and other communications tools.

In today’s world, most of the communication is done through text messages or emails. But there are some people who still prefer to communicate by voice. And for them, voicemail is the best way to do it.

Setting up Voicemail on Android

There are different ways of setting up voicemail on either the Android or iPhone.

Step by step, how to setup voicemail on Android
 

  1. Launch the phone app
  2. From the top right corner of the phone app interface, tap the three-dot icon.
  3. Tap “Settings”
     
  4. Tap Voicemail, then select your carrier provider you want to set up your voicemail service with.
     
     4a. You can change your notification settings: simply tap on “Notification”.
     5. Navigate to Advanced Settings > Setup.
     
  5. Tap “voicemail number” to assign the voicemail number of your service provider. Select “OK” to save.

To access your voicemail message after setting up your voicemail number, open the phone app. On the dial pad interface, you’ll notice that there is an icon for voicemail in the same spot as number 1, long press 1 to access the voicemail service. Follow the instructions given to you in order to assign a pin and listen to your message.
